Leeds United fans taken advantage of again.
One of the more controversial aspects of the chairmanship of Mr K W Bates (one of many) is the Members Club and specifically the annual cost, a stonking £30 for something the club could choose to charge an nominal fee to run. It is a mute point whether we need a priority scheme or even a club run members system, our friends at www.clarkeonenil.co.uk have made this point previously http://clarkeonenil.co.uk/front-page/contributions-on-the-leeds-united-quagmire/not-even-a-figleaf-of-a-excuse-now .
Well now look at this the club cynically pus out whilst the support was enjoying the glow from last nights game: http://www.leedsunited.com/news/tottenham-replay-ticket-details-20100123_2247585_1942354 . To say its its a farce is to put it mildly. Having taken the £30 off at least 30k people to simply drop the requirement without reason for one game smacks of not just unfairness but also taking the fans for granted. Even in the old days of replays being a few days later you could still arrange for members to get first shot at tickets if you wanted to. Is it too difficult to sell only to members until Thursday and then general sale after? No its not but the club under the present regime don’t care, they know it will be a sell-out and they don’t give a monkeys about loyal fans so long as the money rolls in (as an aside we await with interest the reaction of the repackaged Leeds United Supporters Trust on this issue).
With luck this blatant disregard for a system they imposed on us will bring it down, but we won’t hold our breath, but what is essential is once you take the money you should respect the system and those who signed up not conviently forget it when it suits you. Shame on you Mr Bates and Mr Harvey.
